Stride Privacy Policy

Stride is made by Pyrean B.V. and is part of the Gymlab suite of apps.

This policy is short because Stride does very little with your data. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server run by us. We do not receive your runs, your location, your health data, or anything else from the app.

What Stride records

Your location, while you are recording. Stride uses your iPhone's GPS to measure how far you have gone. It reads your location only while a session is running, and it needs background location access so that measuring continues when your screen is off or you are in another app.

Your sessions. Distance, moving time, pace, the split times for each kilometre or mile, and the route you took.

All of it is written to a file inside Stride's own storage on your iPhone. It is not uploaded anywhere unless you turn on sharing, described below.

What we receive

Nothing.

Stride has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. The app makes no network requests of its own. We have no way to see your runs, your location, your health data, or how you use the app.

Apple Health

If you turn on Save Runs to Health, Stride writes each finished session to Apple Health on your iPhone as a workout, including its route and an estimate of the energy you burned.

Stride reads two things from Health, and nothing else: your most recently recorded body mass, used only to estimate energy at the moment a session is saved, and your heart rate while a session is running, so it can show what your Apple Watch or another app is reporting. Heart rate is read only during a session.

Health data stays in Apple Health on your device. It is governed by Apple's own privacy protections. Stride never transmits it, and we never see it.

You can turn this off in Stride's settings, or revoke Stride's access entirely in iOS Settings under Health → Data Access & Devices.

Sharing with friends

If you turn on sharing, Stride uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) so the friends you invite can see your activity. Specifically:

• What is shared: a summary of each session only — the date, the distance, the time, the pace, and whether it was a run, a walk or a hike. Plus a display name you choose.
• What is never shared: your GPS route, your individual split times, and any health data. Your route never leaves your iPhone.
• Where it goes: into your own iCloud account, which counts against your own iCloud storage. It does not go to Pyrean B.V., and we have no access to it. Apple does not give app developers access to users' private or shared iCloud data.
• Who can see it: only the people you explicitly invite, and only after they accept. Invitations are not public links.
• How to stop: turn off sharing in Stride at any time. Everything you shared is deleted, and disappears from your friends' copies of the app.

Data held in iCloud is subject to Apple's privacy policy and iCloud's security protections.

Heart rate monitors

You can pair a Bluetooth heart rate strap or armband. Stride connects to it directly, and only ever looks for devices advertising the standard heart rate service — it does not scan for, or connect to, anything else. Readings appear while you are moving, and the session average is stored with the session on your device. They are not sent anywhere, and they are not part of what is shared with friends.

Children

Stride is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since we collect nothing at all, there is nothing for us to hold or delete.

Deleting your data

Deleting the Stride app removes every session stored on your device. If you had sharing turned on, turn it off before deleting the app so that what you shared is also removed from your friends' copies; alternatively you can remove the Stride data from your iCloud account in iOS Settings under your name → iCloud.

Workouts already written to Apple Health belong to Health, not to Stride, and remain there until you delete them in the Health app.

Changes to this policy

If Stride ever starts doing something this policy does not describe, we will update this page and note the date at the top. We will not quietly widen what the app does with your data.
